Security

Protection of your confidential information is of the utmost importance to me. Security has always been a serious responsibility for lawyers, and it is even more significant today, when unauthorized access to data kept on computers can occur any time. Accordingly, in addition to the usual measures (such as keeping client papers and files locked when I'm not using them and filing social security numbers so that they are private data) I have taken additional steps to secure your private information.

Specifically, I have two computers in my office. The first is connected to the internet via wireless access, and it is used only for e-mail and to access the internet. It never contains client files. The second computer holds client files, and is never connected to the internet. When you allow me to communicate with you and others involved in your case via e-mail, and I need to send a document as an e-mail attachment, the document is created in the second computer and then transferred to a flash drive, which is then physically plugged in to the first computer. From there the document is treated, attached to the required e-mail and sent. E-mails and attached documents received at the first computer are physically printed and placed in the appropriate client paper files.

In other words, no one using the internet ever has access to the second computer, on which your private and confidential information is kept.

While no system of security is totally foolproof, it is still important that a very serious effort be made to protect your confidences and secrets. I have tried to do so with my current system.
